Cameo Simulation Toolkit 2022x Documentation

Once you create a simulation template in SIMULIA Process Composer and share it on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, you can also use it in a modeling tool with the Cameo Simulation Toolkit plugin to simulate your model. All you need to do is drag the simulation template to an Activity or a Parametric Diagram and connect the desired inputs and outputs as described below. Then you can start the simulation and get the results right in your modeling tool, even though the simulation is executed on the SIMULIA side.

Prerequisites

To run the simulation with a Simulation Template from Simulia, the following conditions must be met:

  • The Process Composer Integration plugin has to be installed in your modeling tool.
  • You need to have access to a Simulation Template in Simulia.
  • The Simulation Profile must be used in the project you want to simulate.

To run the simulation using a Simulation Template from Simulia

  1. In the main menu of a modeling tool, select 3DEXPERIENCE > Login and log into the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
  2. Use an internet browser to open the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and find the Simulation Template from Simulia that you want to use.
  3. Drag the Simulation Template from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the web to an Activity or Parametric Diagram in your modeling tool.

    • When a Simulation Template is dragged to an Activity diagram, an Activity with a hyperlink to the Simulation Template is created. In addition, a Call Behavior Action with the «3DXSimulationTemplate» stereotype is created and displayed in the Activity Diagram. This Call Behavior Action invokes the Activity.
    • When a Simulation Template is dragged to a Parametric Diagram, a Constraint Block with a hyperlink to the Simulation Template is created. In addition, a Constraint Property with the «3DXSimulationTemplate» stereotype is created and displayed in the Parametric Diagram. This Constraint Property is typed by the Constraint Block.
    • If the Simulation Template dragged to an Activity or Parametric diagram has an assigned image, it will also be visible on the modeling tool side as displayed below.

  4. Model the Activity diagram to provide inputs and outputs for the Simulation Template (the Call Behavior Action created after dragging the template to the diagram).

  5. Run the simulation using a Simulation Configuration.

    Storing simulation results

If the Results Location property of a Simulation Configuration is specified:
    • The simulation results are stored in an Instance Specification.
    • A hyperlink to the simulation process stored on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is added to the Instance Specification with the simulation results.
    • If the Instance Specification with the simulation results already has a hyperlink(s), it is removed and a new hyperlink to the simulation process is added and marked as active.
    • Hyperlinks to the simulation process are stored on the root Instance Specification with the simulation results.
